This is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark on the health of Toronto’s residents by facilitating excellence in healthy public policy, while ensuring compliance with Ontario Public Health Standards and Board of Health directives. Reporting to the Medical Officer of Health, you will take a leadership role in delivering divisional policy and advocacy, and in research and development to advance Public Health knowledge and optimize strategic decisions.

An innovative, results-oriented leader, you will develop multi-year, evidence-informed strategic and operating plans that maximize service delivery efficiencies. Your plans will determine goals, objectives, resource requirements and performance indicators, and direct overall program compliance. Both a strategic and a lateral thinker, you will manage the review, planning and research for healthy public policy development, monitor program performance and make any adjustments needed to ensure targets are met. You will also develop and oversee an annual budget, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of Toronto Public Health.

Your commitment to quality public health and proven accomplishments in this field will enable you to expertly monitor community health indicators, identify emerging issues and priorities, and respond with public health policy interventions that improve the health of the City’s residents. You are a savvy communicator and relationship builder, adept at developing and maintaining consultation and partnership strategies that ensure productive working relationships with external agencies and health service providers. As a public health expert with strong political acuity, you inspire confidence and can ably represent Toronto Public Health in advising various municipal and provincial bodies and committees.

A compelling leader with a track record of operational excellence, you know how to inspire, lead and motivate a diverse workforce, resolve labour relations issues, ensure effective teamwork, set and achieve high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and promote continuous learning and innovation. Your strengths as a senior leader will also drive your success in building effective teams and fostering collaboration in an optimized work environment focused on continuous improvement.

As the successful candidate, you will have a graduate degree in Public Health or Public Policy, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Extensive and progressive management experience in the formulation and implementation of policies, research and advocacy, preferably with a focus on Public Health, is essential.

Salary Range: $145,672.80 - $171.152.80 per year
