The Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University is pleased to invite applications for the QEII Health Science Centre Foundation Chair in Arthroplasty Outcomes.  The Chair position will enhance research in Arthroplasty outcomes, underway in Nova Scotia.  It will also provide the opportunity to build on all aspects of research and coordinate interaction with other orthopedic research locally, nationally and internationally.

The Chair is expected to be a respected expert in the field of Orthopaedics with an international reputation and provide research leadership and mentoring to the musculoskeletal research community.  The Chairholder is to facilitate improved outcomes for current and future Arthroplasty patients, access to world leading technology for patients in Nova Scotia, and development of a world class Arthroplasty Centre in Halifax.

The Chair is directed at a researcher with MD and/or PhD qualifications and experience in clinical orthopedic research.  The Chair will be expected to establish an active research program with independent funding from peer reviewed agencies.   The Chair would be expected to be appointed at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level with an appointment in the Department of Surgery.  For clinician scientist applicants, the candidate must hold, or be eligible for, a license with the appropriate licensing authority.

This is an Endowed Chair and is a continuing position provided that the Chair continues to show acceptable levels of research productivity as assessed by five year summary reports of productivity and impact in the field.

Halifax, located on the seacoast of Nova Scotia, and the largest city in Atlantic Canada, boasts a rich diversity of recreational, cultural and educational opportunities.
